Collaboration with NGOs for SDGs

Student volunteering programmes:
NYCU runs structured, faculty-mentored international volunteering with NGOs through the “Southeast Asia International Volunteer Team BAT“ and the “India International Volunteer Team Jullay.” Student teams deliver education, health and community projects — e.g., remote design/ environmental education workshops with Cambodian youth, and long-running education support at Jamyang School in Ladakh —advancing SDG 1, SDG 4, SDG 10 across Cambodia, Vietnam, the Philippines, and India. These teams are embedded in the Service-Learning curriculum with pre-departure training and annual summer fieldwork.
Research programmes:
NYCU’s USR team and the TSMC Charity Foundation co-hosted “Youth–Senior AI Learning: Care Without Ceasing” at the Xiangshan Community Development Association. Working with 20 older adults from Dazhuang and 22 pupils from Dazhuang Elementary School, NYCU students designed Edge-AI rhythm-and-movement activities to spark cross-generational interactions. In partnership with the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, the program integrated digital tools into health screening and monitoring. Corporate volunteers also joined to broaden the community support network.
Development of educational resources:
NYCU’s ewant Open Education Platform (est. 2013) is Taiwan’s first and most prominent MOOC platform, sharing higher education courses openly and hosting a High School Talent Cultivation space for partner schools and teacher upskilling. NYCU is also listed as a Taiwan member of the Open Education Consortium / Open Education Global, expanding open educational resources internationally.
